Summer Reading Playlist

We know you have all been busy with all your Summer Reading events, so we made sure to archive all of our storytimes and author panels on the 2024 Summer Reading Playlist for you to watch at your leisure!

Here’s a brief highlight from the Kickoff Event with Mychal Threets, Hena Khan and Chris Grabenstein that aired earlier in June:

”I think summer has always meant reading what you want to read. I think it's in the summers where I first read Agatha Christie and my first Stephen King thrillers, and all those comic books and those mad books, it was just like reading for fun.  I think of summer reading as getting to read whatever I want.” Chris Grabentstein

“Summers are for reading.  It was play outside until you couldn't stand it, and then come inside and cool off with a book and disappear into, you know, a story for a little bit. And the library was a home away from home for me. A place where I just felt so free to explore and try something new. Try new things, try different types of books and go on different reading adventures.” Hena Khan

“I love what you both just said about summer reading. To me, that's what's always meant as well. Just if it's time to take a break. Educators, librarians, even library kids who may be  watching this or just struggling…Go to the library to be who you are. You don't have to leave your anxiety. You don't have to leave your bad days outside library. You could just come in and you can, just you could just be. You can read Hena Khan books. You could read Chris Grabenstein books, you can just be who you are.“ Mychal Threets

Special thanks to our colleagues and partners at Candlewick Press, HarperCollins, Neal Porter Books, Paw Prints Publishing and Penguin Random House for taking part this year!
